Put your white attire on and meet us after hours on Sweeten Creek! Hookah, Cigars, and Libations await your presence on Thursday night. We promise to have you in bed early.

Join us for a shades of Black Cocktail Party. We know its only a two hour party, but some of us have to set up booths, run, and get ready for the festival. Come put your cute outfit on and hang out with us.

The Goombay 5K — Run for Goombay invites runners, walkers, families, and fitness enthusiasts to hit the streets of Asheville’s historic East End as part of the annual Goombay Festival. This community-centered race celebrates health, wellness, Black culture, and the spirit of togetherness that makes Goombay special.
Whether you’re chasing a personal best, walking with friends and family, or simply looking for a fun way to experience the neighborhood, there’s a place for you at the starting line. Your participation helps support the YMI Cultural Center and its ongoing commitment to Ujima—collective work and responsibility, health, and community wellness.
Can't make it to Asheville? Participate virtually! Register, complete your 5K wherever you are, and join us in celebrating Goombay from your own hometown.
